Oblivion Rebuild
I've already played Oblivion through once, but I felt like something was missing. Two things actually: one is that this game really deserves more than one playthrough. The other is that because of the auto-levelling of monsters, you never get to have one of my favorite RPG experiences: levelling high enough that you are the master of all you survey and can destroy any petty mortals that happen to cross your path.
On top of that, there are a lot of mods out there, with a lot of annoyances fixed and so on.
So, at some point, I'd like to play Oblivion again with a bunch of mods installed, and actually do every side quest I can find and so on like that. There's so much to do here that I can't realistically do all the required research in one session, so I'm keeping here a list of the mods I'd like to install, in approximate order of importance. It should be assumed in each case that, at the time at least, a mod listed here was the best in its category for my purposes. Therefore, dates are noted for some.
Mods Chosen
- FCOM
. See this thread
for people discussing current stability and the whole Wrye Bash thing in response to my questions.
- The various official mods: Shivering Isles, the mage tower, Knights Of The Nine.
- Darnified UI
15 Jun 2008
- A magic overhaul
; I was leaning towards Supreme Magicka, but then I saw the Midas Magic Trailer
. 0.o It apparently plays well with Arcane University 300
and FCOM.
Mods To Choose
- http://www.oblivionmodwiki.com/index.php/Streamline
? Seems to help with crashes via continuous saving.
- A nudie-when-nude mod; the diapers are just silly.
- A set of make-prettier mods; note http://devnull.sweetdanger.net/obliviontextureoverhaul.html
in particular
- Some mod to deal with getting full on loot in dungeons without breaking verisimilitude; in the past, I've used packhorse mods for this, but perhaps Supreme Magicka has something I can use
- Maybe some quest mods
- pretty much everything at http://devnull.sweetdanger.net/
Resources
- My Furl Oblivion Category
has lots of lists-of-lists for this purpose
